The Way Back Machine

Posted March 27th, 2008

So much has happened in the last 5 months since we moved back to Minnesota. Quite honestly it was exhausting to think of blogging while we’re going through a pretty big transition - acclimating to our new jobs, making our new home feel like home, getting used to a new route to Target…

It’s easy to isolate ourselves in order to deal with the stress of it all, but thankfully we’ve been surrounded by some very good people who help us keep our heads above water.

I don’t mean to say the move has been bad. On the contrary! I’m absolutely loving my new job - I work with a group of wonderful and talented people. My enjoyment of web design/development has only grown… and working with people who are really good at it has challenged me and - I believe - made me better.

It has been equally as wonderfully to reconnect with friends and family that have known us for so long.

Dawn is now working part-time at Starbuck’s and - as I new she would - is thriving in that job. Her schedule has worked out perfectly for us as well.

The kiddos seem to have settled in nicely. They amaze me at their ability to adapt. I suppose as long as Mommy and Papa are around, things to them probably seem to be just fine. They’re growing and changing at a crazy-fast rate. Jack will be 4 in April! Nora is going to be 2 in August! We’re loving those ages. I can honestly say that I’m enjoying being a dad more every day. My mom once told me how parents’ love for their kids just keeps getting stronger every day. I’m finally understanding what she meant.

We cannot wait for the weather to warm up. For Dawn and I, there really is no place like the Twin Cities in the Spring and Summertime. We love it.

We definitely miss our friends and family back in Chicago… the hardest thing to deal with is coming to terms that people who once were an everyday part of our lives are now 300 miles away. It’s tough sometimes.

Ultimately, we know we know we’re in God’s will. There is great comfort and peace in that. Our path was directed here for reasons we already know… and some that are yet to be discovered, I suppose.
